Studies occur in the hospital, ambulances, and the human physiology laboratory. We study provider health and safety as well as disease.

Four Emergency Departments

The department provides clinical services for over 175,000 patients per year at UPMC-Mercy, UPMC-Shadyside, UPMC-Presbyterian Hospitals, and Magee Women's Hospital of UPMC.

Community Participation

Bedside teaching and mentorship of residents is a core mission for our department. Alumni provide emergency care worldwide.

Emergency Medical Services

We provide medical direction for many EMS agencies in the region. Residents and fellows respond to critical cases for Pittsburgh EMS.
